Polarizers and Beamsplitters
Inorganic wire-grid polarizers for high brightness and contrast uniformity
MOXTEK ®
Moxtek are a leading supplier of advanced nano-optical components
for display electronics, imaging and analytical instrumentation.
Moxtek’s range of optical polarizers and beamsplitters are designed to be heat tolerant, have high Unpolarized Light S-Plane Reflected
transmission and contrast over a wide wavelength range and maintain performance over a wide
acceptance angle. They are available in standard sizes (12.5 mm, 25 mm, 50 mm) and also have the
option to be mounted and/or fitted with cover glass to protect their fragile construction.
Thickness
Features:
• Visible – optimized for high contrast or high transmission over a spectral range of 420-700 nm.
Widely used in projection display systems but also suitable for microscopy, spectroscopy and
automotive applications. Line Width Glass Substrate
• Beamsplitters – used at 45 degree angle of incidence to transmit the p-polarization and reflect Period Aluminum Ribs OPTICS
s-polarization states. P-Plane Transmitted
• UV – fused silica substrate, 240-400 nm spectral range. Useful in UV curing or exposure
setups, or to replace a Glan-Taylor prism in a spectrophotometer.
• IR – BIR and SIR models – optimized for the NIR-SWIR and MWIR-LWIR spectral regions respectively.
• Ultra broadband – one polarizer to cover a spectral range of 300 nm to 4 µm. Suited for
UV-VIS-NIR FTIR spectroscopy or laser frequency doubling applications for example.
ICE-cube – polarizing beamsplitter cube. The ICE-cube can be optimized for high index (I),
contrast (C), or efficiency (E). The wire-grid polarizer is embedded between two AR coated glass
(BK7) prisms. This has the advantage of protecting the fragile construction of the polarizer, whilst
maintaining high optical performance. The cube maintains uniform transmission and contrast
ratio over a wide range of wavelengths and acceptance angles – offering a significant advantage
over standard MacNeille cubes.
